Tour of the Cal Northeast Bakersfield Water Treatment Plant!

The Plant, owned and operated by the California Water Service Company uses micro-filtration in combination with other technologies to treat water drawn from the Kern River.

The facility is a major addition to the city’s supply while reducing the region’s traditional dependence on groundwater.

Kern County provided the land for the intake structure, the pump station and new reservoir. The City of Bakersfield constructed the reservoir and made the water supply available. ASCE SSJ was given the opportunity to tour the plant this month.
